Today was Christinaâs day off from Winding Creek Ranch and she was headed to the library, she had promised Audrey to think about giving a small talk at the library to lighten everyoneâs mood after the big murder case had happened.
âHi Audrey,â Christina said as she walked over to the librarianâs desk area.
âHey Christina, itâs great to see you. Weâve all missed having you around,â Audrey replied.
âThanks, I started working part-time at Winding Creek Ranch and todayâs my day off and I wanted to come and write. I truly enjoy spending time here,â Christina explained.
âOh, great to hear. I thought that maybe you felt pressured to give me an answer regarding the request to hold a small talk for the town members that wanted to join,â Audrey admitted.
âNo, donât be silly. I just wanted to give myself a new challenge and working at the ranch came at the perfect timing. Itâs given me new ideas and experiences that I can now share in my books,â Christina said still not sure what her decision was regarding giving them a small talk when suddenly Audrey was direct and asked her.
âSo, will you give the small talk?â
âYeah, sureâ Christinaâs said without her even realizing what was coming out of her mouth.
âGreat! I canât wait. I think everyone will really enjoy seeing you back in town and hearing words of encouragement,â Audrey said as she started jotting down topic ideas, set up for the chairs and podium, she hit the ground running.
âWow, youâre already starting. Youâre not wasting any time, I seeâ Christina said with a nervous chuckle.
âWell, itâs not every day that you have a famous writer in town interested to engage in meaningful conversation with the townâs residents,â Audrey said with a huge smile.
âOh, please, donât see me as a famous writer. I really am not. I was just trying to encourage myself when I was feeling down and this book came out of me and people took a liking to it. Things just evolved from there and here I am now. But I promise you, I'm not a guru or anything. Iâm learning as I live life and experience things myself,â Christina said explaining that she wasnât more than a mere human with experiences that was just voicing how she helped herself rise from the ashes and move forward in life.
âYouâre being modestâ Audrey said as she smiled and walked guiding Christina to her favorite spot in the library where Audrey had laid out magazines and other research materials that she knew Christina always read while she was in the library.
âThank you, you are exceptionally kindâ Christina said as she placed her laptop on the desk and got her writing tools out.
âItâs not a problem. I know youâre trying your best. Itâs been difficult for you since you were small. Iâve read your books and I know your family. Life isnât easy for any of us but itâs that resilience that makes it all the more wonderful. Seeing you dust yourself
